Andromeda Shawl

aka Crazy Daisy Shawl no4

The inspiration for this shawl is a 1953 doily. As I was researching patterns using the Daisy Knitter, Crazy Daisy Winder & Fleischer Daisy Looms, I came across a gorgeous doily which instantly captivated me with the intricate joinery. I thought, hmmm, this would be a beautiful shawl. So I set about charting the layout to be certain my vision was possible.

Next step: Swatches

Yes. that dreaded word, SWATCH. But absolutely necessary when altering/adapting from an original design. This is the time to play with thread/yarn sizes, fiber content, colorways.

For this shawl, I’ve chosen a bamboo/cotton blend in a fingering weight. It’s light in weight, yet still provides warmth on a cool day or evening. The drape is flowy and the fiber has a slight sheen.

This design is gorgeous in white , making it quite suitable for a bride.

Dimensions: approx. 6’ wide x 4’ deep
